Many kidnappings on both Hamas and Fatah side happen, but usually Fatah are the only ones known to torture and humilate their captives, by shaving of their beard, eyebrows and head. Walter Heiman is a 105-year-old veteran of WWI who passed away on March 18, 2007. Heiman fought for the the Germans but as a jew he was forced to flee in 1938 and ended up in the St. Louis area.
