Aspen, 6, foreground, and Jordan, 10, walk out of the chicken pen after collecting eggs on a summer morning. The Vincent children complete several chores both around the farm and in the house throughout the course of a normal day.

Todd takes a short break while fixing a broken underground water pipe. Todd works long and hard each day. 'This is the first time in my life I've done something I really love,' he said.

Eon, 9, holds a chicken while Todd clips its wing. 'The reason I did this is to be with the children,' Todd said. 'We're trying to teach them to be producers, not consumers.'

With help from her older sister Jordan, Aspen gets a squirt of fresh milk from one of the family’s jersey cows.

With eight mouths to feed, Kari stays busy during meal time. The family makes good use of their home-grown commodities, which range from vegetables in their garden to yogurt made from their cow milk.

Hudson, 2, left, Aspen, 6, Grayson, 4 and Eon, 9, all ride with Todd on the family's only tractor. The children often stick close to their father as he completes daily tasks around the farm.

After a long day Todd is greeted by his son Grayson, 4, as the children got ready for bed.
