Head-On Collision
Margaret Mason, 63, of Marion County, Ky. attempts to remove the victim of a head-on collision on highway 50 outside of Lebanon, Kentucky October 31, 2009. The crash resulted in the hospitalization of 5 people, two of which were flown directly to Louisville hospital from the scene.

Cyd's Arrest
Cyd Bennette, 38, professes her innocence while being arrested for prostitution on Halloween night in Durham, N.C. "We are just friends. We were just talking," Bennette said, referring to the man she had been found sitting with in a car. Bennette has been previously cited for prostitution. Bennette is homeless and uses prostitution as a means to support a drug addiction. She began smoking crack after being molested by her stepfather when she was 16, Bennette said. I'm just living and surviving, she said.

The Rescue
Firefighters grab hold to a 21-year-old Concord woman who became stranded on a rock in the Merrimack River downstream from the Sewalls Falls Bridge after a pool raft she was riding deflated Wednesday, June 30, 2010. The woman, who declined to give her name, was traveling with two friends, also 21, on $5 rafts, she said. Three Concord firefighters reached her about 1:20 p.m.. The woman really wasn't prepared for what she was doing, said fire Battalion Chief Bill Weinhold. "It's unfortunate that people put themselves in a position where we have to come and get them and tie up resources."

A 20-year-old man stands clinging to the 20th story of an apartment building on the 600 block of Wisconsin Ave in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin after climbing 15 stories from the top of an adjoined 5 story parking structure. Police said was despondent after he did not receive a job he wanted.

Grieving
The fire rate in Rochester is high for such a small city. It is the job of the Greater Rochester American Red Cross assists families in the area when such a disaster occurs. Aylissa Gundogdu, right, a single mother, lost half of her apartment to a kitchen fire on November 14, 2009. Nashville Underwater
The first weekend in May of 2010 brings a constant rain storm for two days without any let up, causing the Cumberland River in Nashville to flood. More rain fell in a 24 hour period than ever before. Throughout the city many residents were forced from their homes and businesses. Evacuations and rescue teams worked for hours to help get people to shelter. Here an Oklahoman family wades through water to seek refuge at a nearby Days Inn near downtown Nashville.
