58th Annual College Photographer of the Year Competition:
Frequently Asked Questions

Entry Fee:
Q: If I pay $25 for each category I enter, I will be paying hundreds of dollars in entry fees? Is this right?  I don't know if I can afford to enter this contest.

A: The $25 entry fee covers your entire entry.  A photographer therefore pays $25 to enter the contest , no more, no less.

Advisor:
Q: My advisor is far away and can't sign the form. Can I have my photo editor sign as my advisor?

A: If you are working at an internship, having a photo editor sign the form will work.

Although this will be acceptable, please have a member of the faculty at your school send us an email confirming your enrollment at school for at least one semester during the past year. We will combine that e-mail notification with your entry form upon its arrival.   Be sure to provide the fax number of the appropriate office at your school so that contest results can be sent.

IMAGE SIZE:
Q: I see that the file size was increased compared to last year.  My digital camera does not produce images that are 300dpi and 10" long. Should I just resample and increase the resolution or are there other solutions?

A: Send images at the highest resolution possible . If you have an original file from a digital camera, submit the file where the image size is as close as possible to the required specifications.  For digital cameras you might just change the file size to 300dpi and let the inches adjust automatically.  Alternatively, changing file size to 200dpi in some cases will provide a 10" image.  Do not force the file size up to 10 inches and thereby reduce file quality.

NUMBER OF IMAGES IN ENTRY:
Q:  Can I enter 10 photos in each of the single images categories, therefore submitting a total of 90 photos?

A:  That is correct, in the single picture categories, you may submit up to 10 images each.

In the multiple entry categories there are limits to the number of photos in each entry, but there is no limit to the number of entries.
